I promised myself I would stop reading and “ get to work”. It’s always hard to grant tasks authority over the joy of reading, but duty calls. “Just one more morsel of joy before I go” I promised myself. What delight that I found this piece to savor as my final repast.
love this. And, I suspect, I would love your grandmother's book as well.
My mom published two books plus various poems. Like you, it was always expected that some day I would publish as well. Neither of my parents are alive (or any grandparents, aunts, etc), so the pressure is no longer obvious and yet... the legacy, the living in the shadow (a bit), still stays with me. The concern which was never spoken: "Will I live up to my potential?"
how wonderful that your son got to know his great grandmother!!
Wonderful article. Thanks for sharing!

So fortunate for you to still have her in your life. I am envious. Nice piece btw.
This was so much fun to read. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I hope someday my grandchildren feel (if not write) the way you do about your grandmother. I had to buy this book!
